Beirut Port freight activity rebounded during the month of March 2026 with the total weight of shipped goods rising to around 519.8 thousand tons compared to 473.7 thousand tons a month earlier (9.73% increase). On an annual basis, moreover, freight activity rose by 4.14% to 1,498 thousand tons during the first quarter of the current year compared to 1,438 thousand tons in the equivalent period last year. The number of vessels, however, dropped by 15.25% y-o-y to 300 in comparison with 354 YTD March 2025, while the number of imported cars increased by 105.01% (9,072 cars) to 17,711 cars. In a related note, the Beirut port handled containers with a total cargo capacity of around 242.27 thousand TEUs (including transshipments) during the first quarter of the year 2026 in comparison with a smaller cargo capacity of 179.81 thousand TEUs a year earlier.
