Broadband Genie, an independent UK comparison service for home broadband, TV, landline, and mobile home broadband services prices, has recently published its “Global Broadband Price League 2026” in which it compared fixed-line broadband prices across 214 countries/territories over the world. In detail, Broadband Genie reviewed 2,631 broadband contracts worldwide over the period from 27 January to 10 February 2026. The study focused exclusively on fixed-line broadband plans, while countries with fewer than two qualifying plans were excluded from the analysis. In addition, prices were based on standard monthly subscription fees only, excluding additional charges, promotional offers, and incentives. Broadband Genie noted that the highest broadband costs are typically found in remote countries, such as those with challenging terrain or island nations, as these areas often lack neighboring states to help extend modern infrastructure.

From a ranking perspective, Iran emerged as the country with the cheapest fixed-line broadband prices with an average monthly cost of $2.61, followed by Ukraine ($5.35) and Ethiopia ($6.46). Among Arab countries, Egypt ranked as the cheapest, with an average monthly bundle cost of $7.91 (6^th globally), followed by Lebanon at $14.23 (15^th globally) and Libya at $14.68 (17^th globally). Conversely, Syria recorded the most expensive broadband plans among Arab countries, at $189.92 per month (209^th globally), followed by the United Arab Emirates at $105.92 (192^nd globally) and Qatar at $104.43 (189^th globally).
