Beirut Port freight activity improved during the month of July 2026 with the total weight of shipped goods rising to around 403.6 thousand tons compared to 397.8 thousand tons a month earlier (1.46% monthly increase). On an annual basis, however, freight activity dropped by 10.08% to 3,275 thousand tons during the first seven months of the current year compared to 3,642 thousand tons in the equivalent period last year. The number of vessels also contracted by 9.58% y-o-y to 736 in comparison with 814 YTD July 2025, while the number of imported cars increased by 19.45% (6,869 cars) to 42,189 cars. Meanwhile, the Beirut port handled containers with a total cargo capacity of around 542.04 thousand TEUs (including transshipments) during the first seven months of the year 2026 in comparison with a smaller cargo capacity of 503.59 thousand TEUs over the same period last year.
