The Council of Ministers completed its review of the 2027 draft budget law and approved it during its session on Thursday October 1, 2026, with the Minister of Information, Mr. Paul Morcos, announcing that the draft would be forwarded to the relevant constitutional authorities for signature and referral to Parliament within the prescribed deadlines. The government had also approved the inclusion of public-sector remuneration increases equivalent to six additional salaries in the 2027 budget, comprising three salaries at the beginning of the year and three additional salaries at the end of August, with the necessary appropriations reserved for this purpose. The 2027 draft budget law targets a balanced budget, with government revenues and expenditures projected at LBP 628.87 trillion each (around $7.03 billion, calculated at the LBP 89,500 per USD exchange rate), up from LBP 614.95 trillion before the adjustments. The projected revenues and expenditures in the 2027 draft budget law represent a 16.80% increase over the 2026 balanced budget law figures of LBP 538.42 trillion (around $6.02 billion) for each of revenues and expenditures.
