The Lebanese Ministry of Finance (MOF) published its monthly “Public Finance Monitor”, which included, among others, government transfers to Electricité Du Liban (EDL), revealing some $250.75 million annual contraction in the amounts transferred to LBP 2,074 billion ($1,375.8 million) in the first eleven months of 2019, down from LBP 2,452 billion ($1,626.5 million) during that same period in 2018. This owes primarily to the 15.3% y-o-y drop in the value of gas and fuel purchases from KPC and Sonatrach to LBP 2,070 billion ($1,373.1 million), coupled with a sharp decline in debt service to LBP 4 billion ($2.7 million) and in transfers to Electricity Syria to zero.
It is worth noting that the amounts transferred to EDL constituted 13.53% of the government’s total primary expenditures during the first eleven months of 2019, compared to a higher proportion of 14.48% by November 2018.

(1،375.8 مليون د.أ.) خلال الأشهر الأحد عشر الأولى من العام 2019، مقابِل 2،074 مليار ل.ل. (1،375.8 مليون د.أ.) في الفترة ذاتها من العام 2018. يُنسَب هذا التراجُع بالأخصّ إلى إنخفاض فاتورة المدفوعات لقاء شراء الغاز والوقود من مؤسَّسة البترول الكويتيّة وشركة سوناطراك الجزائريّة بنسبة 15.3% على أساسٍ سنويٍّ إلى 2،070 مليار ل.ل. (1،373.1 مليون د.أ.)، ترافقاً مع إنكماش خدمة الدين بشكلٍ كبير إلى 4 مليار ل.ل. (2.7 مليون د.أ.) وتدنّي التحويلات إلى شركة كهرباء سوريا إلى الصفر.
يجدر الذكر أنّ حصّة التحويلات إلى شركة كهرباء لبنان قد إنخفضت إلى 13.53% من إجمالي النفقات الأوّليّة للحكومة لغاية شهر تشرين الثاني 2019، مقابِل حصّة 14.48% في الفترة نفسها من العام 2018.
