The COVID19 outbreak, which paralyzed the global tourism industry, piled on the misery of the already ailing local tourism sector post the October 17 events. In details and according to figures released by the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism, the number of tourists arriving to Lebanon fell to 29,353 during the month of March 2020, down from 83,082 arrivals in February and previous year’s 144,760 reading. On a cumulative basis, moreover, the number of tourists arriving to the country fell by 48.27% in Q1-2020 to 194,395, compared to 375,815 tourists in the same quarter in 2019. European visitors topped the list of tourists arriving to Lebanon, accounting alone for 39.93% (77,620 visitors) of total tourist arrivals, followed by Arab (54,695 arrivals <28.14%>), American (31,591 arrivals <16.25%>), and Asian (16,011 arrivals <8.24%>) visitors.
جاء وباء الكورونا والذي شلّ حركة السياحة العالميّة ليزيد الطين بلّة على القطاع السياحي اللبناني المتراجع أصلاً بفعل الأحداث التي تلت 17 تشرين. بالتفاصيل، وإستناداً إلى إحصاءات وزارة السياحة اللبنانيّة، إنخفض عدد السيّاح الوافدين إلى لبنان إلى 29،353 سائح خلال شهر آذار 2020، مقارنةً مع 83،082 سائح في الشهر الذي سبقه و144،760 سائح في الشهر الثالث من العام 2019. كذلك على صعيدٍ تراكميّ، فقد تراجع عدد السيّاح الوافدين إلى البلاد بنسبة 48.27% سنويّاً خلال الفصل الأوّل من العام 2020 إلى 194،395 سائح، مقابِل 375،815 سائح في الفترة نفسها من العام 2019. وقد تَصدَّر السيّاح الأوروبيّون لائحة القادمين إلى لبنان، مشكِّلين ما نسبته 39.93% (77،620 سائح) من مجموع الوافدين خلال الفترة المذكورة، تلاهم الوافدون العرب (54،695 سائح <28.14%>)، والزائرون من القارّة الأميركيّة (31،591 سائح <16.25%<)، والسيّاح الآسيويّون (16،011 سائح <8.24%<).
