The Minister of Energy and Water Mr. Joe Saddi recently signed with PrimeSouth Lebanon a power purchase agreement covering the governorates of South and Nabatieh, bearing in mind that the Council of Ministers resolved on October 9th, 2025 to transfer one of the 11 licenses originally granted in 2022 to the company. It is worth noting that in May 2022, the Council of Ministers granted 11 licenses to produce electricity from solar energy, each with a production capacity of 15 megawatts, and an operational period of 25 years, yet said licenses were not activated. Accordingly, Minister Saddi gave license holders back in May 2025 a deadline until December 31, 2025 to fulfill the necessary conditions to begin establishing the solar farms. In a related note, Minister Saddi signed in September 2025 a similar power purchase agreement with CMA CGM to establish 3 solar farms spread across the Mount Lebanon, North and Bekaa regions, each having a capacity of 15 megawatts (MW). 

وقّع وزير الطاقة والمياه السيّد جو صدّي مؤخّراً إتفاقيّة شراء طاقة مع شركة PrimeSouth Lebanon تشمل محافظتيّ الجنوب والنبطيّة علماً بأنّ مجلس الوزراء كان قد قرّر في 9 تشرين الأوّل 2025 نقل إحدى التراخيص الإحدى عشرة التي مُنِحَت في العام 2022 إلى الشركة. يجدر الذكر بأنّ مجلس الوزراء كان قد منح في شهر أيّار 2022 إحدى عشرة رخصة لإنتاج الكهرباء من الطاقة الشمسيّة، بقدرة إنتاجيّة تبلغ 15 ميغاواط لكل منها ومدّة تشغيليّة تمتدّ على 25 عاماً، إلا أنّ هذه التراخيص لم تُفعّل. وبناءً على ذلك، منح الوزير صدّي حاملي التراخيص في أيّار الماضي مهلة تنتهي في 31 كانون الأول 2025 لاستيفاء الشروط اللازمة للبدء بإنشاء مزارع الطاقة الشمسية. في سياق متّصل وقّع السيّد جو صدّي في أيلول 2025 إتّفاقيّة شراء طاقة مع شركة CMA CGM لإنشاء ثلاث مزارع للطاقة الشمسيّة موزّعة على مناطق جبل لبنان والشمال والبقاع بقدرة 15 ميغاواط لكل مزرعة.
